The Andromeda Galaxy, also known as Messier 31, M31, or NGC 224, is a spiral galaxy approximately 780 kiloparsecs (2.5 million light-years) from Earth. Andromeda is approximately 220,000 light years across, and it is the largest galaxy of the Local Group, which also contains the Milky Way, the Triangulum Galaxy (the home galaxy of the Ubiar), and other smaller galaxies including the conquered Pinwheel Galaxy.
Being such a vast and completely uncharted galaxy makes Andromeda the perfect place for starting a new life, making monumental discoveries unheard of in their home galaxy, and even escaping one's past: no matter how dark.
