Fragmentation grenades are dated weapons that are designed to disperse lethal fragments on detonation. The body is generally made of a hard synthetic material or steel, which will provide some fragmentation as shards and splinters. Most grenades are designed to detonate either after a time delay or on impact.
While originally a favorite of the UN Navy, the grenade was phased out of deployment through the 2160s CE and has since become quite popular among mercenaries, terrorists, and the black market.
