The Martians are a precursor race which ruled the galaxy potentially eons before the current Milky Way races. They seemed to have disappeared almost entirely sometime before any current race arrived on the galactic landscape.

The only traces left of the Martians are a few enigmatic research posts hidden throughout the galaxy.
With most of these caches being discovered near the galaxy's most advanced species, many scientists have concluded the Martians may have been observing them while they were still primitives. However, some have sought to disprove these claims and discovered some of these posts were millions of years old, created long before any of the current species had evolved.
