The Martian Reconnaissance Post is an old science and reconnaissance post on Mars left to monitor Earth by the "Martians". Unknown to Humanity at the time of its discovery in 2060 CE, a host of similar posts are scattered across the galaxy, predominantly near the homeworlds of the galaxy's most advanced races.

Societal Impact

The MRP finally told Humanity they were not alone in the galaxy and that interstellar travel was a real possibility. While it brought upon more questions than it answered, the MRP gave Humanity a renewed interest in interstellar exploration and the possibility of extraterrestrial beings.

In his renowned autobiography, Jackson Bento famously claimed:

"The discovery of the [MRP] brought upon an enlightenment far more potent and enthusiastic than the greatest science fiction writers could even fathom."
